ECOWAS CHILD POLICY AND STRATEGIC PLAN OF ACTION

The ECOWAS Child Policy defines a child as a person below 18 years. The Child Policy concisely represents the commitment of ECOWAS to the improvement of the quality of life of children in the region. The ECOWAS Child Policy reactivates the commitment of States to International Instruments including the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and facilitates a collective response to them. The Child Policy is made up of six chapters structured as follows: Background, Summary of Situational Analyses of Children in ECOWAS member states, Policy Vision, Guidelines and Objectives, Policy Goals Key Issues for Priority Action, Policy Implementation, Policy Goals, Objectives and Strategies Rephrased as Obligations
